Our concert is a tribute to Sergei Taneyev, one of the major figures in Russian classical choral music, whose birthday we celebrated on November 26. His theoretical ideas combined Russian traditional music and the classical European polyphony, and his own choral works was born of this union. The first part of the program includes famous works by Sergei Taneyev, as well as spiritual music by Maxim Berezovsky, Igor Stravinsky, and Sergei Rachmaninoff. In the second one we will sing Armenian, Azerbaijan, Georgian, Jewish, Mari, Tatar, Chuvash, Moldavian, and Belorussian folk songs unbelievably beautiful and rarely performed.
